PRIVATE Lesson FAQs

  • Where are lessons held?

FST lessons are only offered at our Macon location.

The aquatic center in Warner Robins operates their own lesson program.

  • How do I request private lessons?

Complete our private lesson waitlist form with your swimmer’s information and availability. If you aren’t ready to begin yet, include your earliest start date. For two swimmers taking lessons together, select semi-private.

  • What are semi-private lessons?

Semi-private lessons are offered to families requesting lessons for two swimmers at the same time, but there are some restrictions:

Both swimmers must be at least 4 years old and have similar swimming abilities. Swimmers ages 4–6 should generally be within one to two years of each other. Older swimmers may have a larger age gap if their abilities are similar. Adults and children cannot be paired together.

  • Can I drop my swimmer off for lessons?

No. A parent or guardian must remain on site throughout group, private, and semi-private lessons involving minors.

  • How many lessons will my swimmer need?

Every swimmer progresses differently. Our first priority is safety, followed by building swimming skills and confidence. Your instructor will let you know when your swimmer is ready for the next step.

  • Does joining the waitlist guarantee lessons?

No. Instructor-to-student matching depends on overlapping availability and an eligible instructor. We consider request order, but a newer request may receive an offer first if that swimmer’s schedule fits an available instructor.

The more flexible your schedule, the greater chance of moving off of the waitlist sooner.

For a future start date, matching begins 14 days before that date.

  • What availability should I provide when I join the waitlist?

Include every day you could attend, the earliest time a lesson could begin, and the latest time it must finish. For example, 3:00–5:00 PM means a 30-minute lesson could take place within that window. Broader availability gives us more opportunities to find a match.

  • How do I stay on the waitlist, update my request, or leave?

While your request is eligible for matching, we’ll email you about every 45 days. Respond within seven days to stay on the list, update your availability, or request removal. Routine renewal notices do not begin until you enter the matching period.

Between renewal emails, contact admin@swimfst.com for changes. Please contact us before submitting another request for the same swimmer.

  • What happens when I receive an offer for private lessons?

When an instructor is available for your student, you will receive an email offering an availability window. You have 72 hours to respond using the link in your offer email. If you accept, we’ll send your instructor’s registration link. Complete registration within 72 hours of accepting, using the deadline provided in your email.

If you decline or the offer expires, your request returns to the waitlist with its original request date. If you accept but miss the registration deadline, contact admin@swimfst.com to confirm whether the opportunity is still available.

  • Is the offered lesson window a confirmed appointment?

No. It identifies when your availability overlaps with your instructor’s. After you complete registration, you and your instructor will arrange your actual lesson dates and times, within the offered window (unless mutually agreed to otherwise).

Admin & Billing FAQs

  • Are lesson fees refundable?

Payment is due at registration and reserves your instructor’s limited lesson time. Fees are non-refundable. Please provide accurate availability and make sure you can commit before registering.

  • What if I need to reschedule or miss a lesson?

Please request schedule changes at least 24 hours before your lesson. With more than four hours’ notice, occasional administrative exceptions may be considered, but are not guaranteed. Contact admin@swimfst.com if you need an exception.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made four hours or less before the lesson are considered no-shows. No-show lessons are forfeited and will not be refunded or made up. Advance notice respects the time your instructor has reserved for you.

  • What happens if weather interrupts a lesson?

A lesson canceled before it begins or within the first 15 minutes will be rescheduled, or makeup time will be added to future lessons. A lesson canceled after the first 15 minutes is considered complete.

  • How will I know if weather affects my lesson?

Instructors monitor conditions and may need to delay or cancel lessons for safety. Decisions are often made close to the start of class. If we cancel in advance, you will receive an email or text. Otherwise, please plan to attend as scheduled.
